I HAVE REPORTED THIS BEFORE WITHOUT HEARING ANY RESPONSE.
Nor can I find any mention of this in the mailing list
archives or any other reference document.

When restricting a select with a where clause that employs
a varchar field, I'll often get the response:
   RestrictionClauseSelectivity: bad value 2.302734
The value is always 2.302734.
