One thought I've had is to make a proxy driver which has additional
functionality.

Essentially this driver would wrap the existing driver and leave the
existing driver alone.

Additional functionality might include:

1) Better Connection Pooling
2) Statement Caching
3) ~/.pgpass and pg_service.conf

Thoughts ?
