Speaking generally as a user...
It seems like this might be a good opportunity to establish an overall
support/EOL policy for the drivers. Anyone running 7.4 has been on their
own for years anyway and shouldn't expect driver authors to spend
valuable development resources supporting those outdated systems.
I would not personally object to a driver EOL/support policy that tracks
alongside the EOL/support schedule of PostgreSQL itself. If support for
anything pre-8.4 is impeding you, drop it.
