Unfortunately, I'm not able to install strace:

# pwd
/usr/ports/devel/strace
# make
===>  strace-4.5.7 is only for i386, while you are running amd64.
*** Error code 1

Stop in /usr/ports/devel/strace.

I'll happily install any trace tool, but have no clue which one would help.
