Without Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP many Web 2.0 companies would not
exist today. This is according to Tim O'Reilly, CEO of O'Reilly Media
and the person most often credited for coining the term

saying this in a recent media release by MySQL AB
<http://www.mysql.com/>, developers of the popular open source database.
"Without the LAMP software stack, many Web 2.0 companies would have
never got off the ground," said O'Reilly.
The MySQL open source database has become the database of choice for a
new generation of highly-popular Internet companies pioneering Web 2.0
technologies including the likes of YouTube, Flickr, Technorati,
FeedBurner, Feedster, Wikipedia, Digg, LiveJournal, del.icio.us and Zimbra.
MySQL is particularly popular among companies developing Internet-based
applications for its speed and its ability to scale out quickly.
Web 2.0 companies are a new breed of sites that combine user
collaboration and modern development technologies such as Ruby on Rails,
AJaX and LAMP to create highly interactive services.
MySQL's Zack Urlocker, says most of the "big names" in Web 2.0
development today are using the MySQL database. "Designed to be as fast
and flexible as the Internet itself, MySQL is helping Web 2.0 develop
into tomorrow's modern enterprise infrastructure."
