Adam, 
there are two kinds of dll's. 
* A classical dll, made with c or c++, has just to be copied into
windows\system
* An ActiveX dll has to be registered with regsvr32.
I suspect that odbc driver dll is a classical dll, so it only has to
be copied into windows\system
