Yupp.
./configure had then created a GNUmakefile !
This was still around in the src directory, telling me that I was
anticipating at the time, that some day Access97 strikes back leaving my
users requiring odbc drivers.
well, the ODBC option is configured, client side odbc driver from
insight installed (successfully).
Just odbc32 is not (yet, anylonger) running on my old office laptop. Bad
luck.
