To all the PostgresQL Developers,<br /><br />I just wanted to take a minute to say a very big thank you to everyone who
hasmade PostgresQL the outstanding database that it is. I have been using it for more than 5 years now, and it has
neverceased to amaze me just how stable, featureful and downright useable this database that you have built really is.
Iam particularly grateful for the fantastic improvements that have been made to COPY, and I am really looking forward
tobeing able to use COPY with views in the future, if this is possible. <br /><br />We use a variety of databases here,
includingIngres, mySQL, MS Access, Filemaker Pro, MSDE, along with a bunch of other specific apps. Using PostgresQL has
allowedme to create a solution that sits in the middle of these and bring the data from all the other systems together
ina manageable way. Quite simply, nothing else was able to match the overall package that PostgresQL provides to the
DBAor developer for doing this in such a straightforward and reliable manner. Using Python and PostgresQL together
makesthis an easy but robust solution. I now even have my colleagues starting to say, "We should use Postgres for
that",instead of the "Well maybe we should look into Oracle or MS SQL Server" that I was hearing before they realized
thepossibilities. <br /><br />I don't know how often people thank you for all your hard work, but I imagine it is not
enough.Great work!<br /><br />With thanks,<br /><br />Guy Flaherty<br />Information Systems<br />Xavier College<br

list!<br/>
