Hi,

We've previously been discussing this [1], [2], but a few more years
have passed.  The reason I'm thinking again about this is that for [3]
I'm staring at non-mechanical changes to it:
1 file changed, 79 insertions(+), 14 deletions(-)
and there's things I'd rather do with my time than understand its code
and manually test it (there's no tests).
