sorry if this is the wrong group. The problem is that the software in use is not capable of using UTF-8 as encoding
yet.So LATIN1 has been used as server and database encoding for Linux and Windows. However, as PostgreSQL 8.3 is
enforcingmatching encodings and locales it's not possible to use LATIN1 with a German locale anymore. The accepted
C-localeis not sufficient as it lacks correct sorting of Umlauts etc. . Will this be fixed or is there a way to
intializea cluster with LATIN and German locale?
