I didn't respond directly to this claim of yours.
SELECT FOR UPDATE is only useful if I'm going to do SELECT. If I am
using memcache, one would presume that I am using it in place of
SELECT, to improve performance. If I'm going to SELECT and then
memcache, I haven't gained anything.
