Hilou,
Taste and try before you buy.
Lotsa people talkin', few of them know ...
Have you actually installed and run this 'slow' (r)dbms ? On what hardware ?
OS(s) / distro(s) ? Locales ? Collates ? Etc. ? What are you planning to do ?
Read the docs and manuals. RTFM, I know ...
With my limited experience from RH 6.0 to FC.modern / such like, and coming
from an ancient background before desktop and all these mobile what-you-have
things, I must say communities like this / ours are the juice of the
industry. As opposed to proprietary systems and slow moving mammoths like,
you know. No names. I once had a 'fully operational' #%-system installed with
%#SQL-server and all. Yeah. Now I know.
What is slow ? Millisec-wise ? Local network ? Via internet ? Or is the bottle
neck actually the bottle neck you are holding ? Grab the bottle and drink it,
meanwhile, re-plan your query and output.
Just reading these lists has taught me more than I ever bargained for. I hope
I can some day give something back.
This kind of thread is getting no one no where. Yes, no, yesn't s/he ?
Hack before you whack.
And I encourage you to test Pg. Amongst other things in life.
