But when I opened an existing Main Document from Word XP bychance, no error occured at all and it could be happily used. Text and Merge fields can be added to the layout and querycriteria can be changed. So I only need Word 2000 to create an empty Main document with the datasource attached andsave this as a template Main document for Word XP. Not sure if XP also lets you change the table here. I use only oneview and pre-select that in the template with all its columns and a dummy criterium to reduce the initial amount of data.
<fontsize="2" style="FONT-FAMILY: arial,helvetica,sans-serif">Did not see any happy users yet (there is anoverwhelming amount of icons and options in Word XP) but the data is in their hands now.
Bye, Edzard Pasma

--- Edzard Pasma <edzard@volcanomail.com>wrote:

From: Edzard Pasma <edzard@volcanomail.com>
Date:Sun, 15 May 2005 05:10:31 -0700 (PDT)
To: pgsql-odbc@postgresql.org
Subject: Unableto obtain list of tables from the data source

Hello,
<fontface="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">I'm struggling with the "Unable to obtain listof tables from the data source" error. This occurs in MS Word 2002 when performing mail merge and opening an ODBC datasource, configured with the Postgresql driver. I tried several version of the driver, 7.1., 7.2, 7.3 and 8.0.1 with noluck. There is no need to go in further detail as this was vastly discussed just a couple of month ago. (<a href="http://archives.postgresql.org/pgsql-odbc/2004-12/msg00056.php"target="_blank">http://archives.postgresql.org/pgsql-odbc/2004-12/msg00056.php).I find that Word 2002 is moreparticular than older versions. Word 2000 plus the v7.3 driver (7.03.02.00) work fine. Now I wonder how newer MS Officeversions behave. Did anybody ever try Word 2004 or 2005? (if these exist at all).
Happy with pg anyway, Edzard Pasma

Tired of spam and viruses?
