Works for me (tm):

$ isql pgtest
[...]
SQL> select count(*) from pg_class;
+---------------------+
| count               |
+---------------------+
| 180                 |
+---------------------+
1 rows affected
1 rows returned

Is this possibly another 64-bit issue?  Are you still running on amd64?
