It's defined in .../include/sqlca.h:

#define SQLERRMC_LEN    70

Did you change this before you compile the libraries? If you just change
the user side, it won't help much.

Sorry, never heard about this kind of failure. Does it still happen with
newer PostgreSQL versions?
