Alex,
Postgres's "select into" does not work like oracle.
The "select into" for postgresql creates another
table. Try this;
select aliasvalue || trim(arrayval[i]) into
newtablename from currenttablename where trim(searchfield) like '%' ||trim(searchvalue) || '%';
