pg_dump error.. - Mailing list pgadmin-support

Hi,

I have a a postgresql databse in apache for that i want to take a back up..so when i try to issue this following command ..

$pg_dump dbname > backup.txt

saying error:

bash: backup.txt: permission denied.

what might be the problem exactly. please try to help me in this regard.
