Bug reference: 19387

PostgreSQL version: 18.1
Operating system: MAC
Description:

I am writing to report a significant performance issue observed with
PostgreSQL version 18.1 on macOS, which has been consistently affecting
usability over the past few days.

When using PostgreSQL 18.1 on macOS, I am experiencing severe response time
delays, including:

A 3–5 second delay between typing characters and their appearance in the
query editor/terminal.
Very slow application startup, taking nearly 2 minutes to open and become
responsive.
Overall high latency and performance degradation during basic interactions.

To rule out device-specific issues, I tested the same version on multiple
macOS machines, including a brand-new Mac laptop, and observed identical
behavior. This suggests the issue is not hardware-related.

The Windows version of PostgreSQL 18.1 does not exhibit this problem.
PostgreSQL versions prior to 18.x on macOS were significantly more
responsive.
The macOS package appears to have notable latency issues compared to
Windows.

I kindly request the PostgreSQL team to Investigate the **macOS-specific
performance regression** in PostgreSQL 18.1.
