FYI, I downloaded / compiled / installed beta5 and did a select version()
from psql and got:
template1=# select version(); version
------------------------------------------------------------------------PostgreSQL 7.1beta4 on i686-pc-linux-gnu,
compiledby GCC egcs-2.91.66
