Could you please try installing these uuid RPMs and test against these?

http://yum.pgrpms.org/8.3/redhat/rhel-5-x86_64/repoview/letter_u.group.html

(Replace 8.3 with 8.4 if you are using 8.4...)

I have tested it before, and it worked.
