Inherritance question - Mailing list pgsql-novice

Hi,

Using pgadmin3, I created the tables :

physical_object
    title
    description

equipment
    manufacturer
    model
    serial_num
    -> inherits from physical_objects

when I use the "edit data" feature of pgadmin3, the eqipment specific
colums are readonly( and blank) and in the table properties for
equipment these columns are grey, not black. How can I populate these
fields?
