Position Summary:
Our client is looking for a singular candidate to drive the overall
database strategy for their fast-growing office in Skokie, IL. Our
client has over 300 PostgreSQL databases, which roll up nightly into
Oracle Warehouses.   This is a full time position.

The ideal candidate would not only be able to see growing trends and
practices in Data Warehousing and help drive vision three to five years
ahead, but also enjoys getting hands-on and rebuilding indexes on a
local level when production machines need tending.

Special Skills/Experience Required:
Under supervision of the Chief Engineer, install, configure, maintain,
troubleshoot and tune multiple Data Warehousing databases running on
RedHat Enterprise Linux. Administer databases through full application
life cycle: development, testing, and production. Provide guidance and
mentoring to a Junior DBA and set tone for the team. Monitor ongoing
data trends in their fleet of 300 PostgreSQL servers. Perform database
logical and physical design. Provide requirements definitions for
backup/recovery procedures.

Qualifications:

Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Must be self-motivated
and be able to grasp functional concepts quickly. Excellent verbal and
writing skills required. Must be able to work independently and
participate as a member of a cross-functional team. B.S. in Computer
Science or other technical degree or equivalent work experience
required. 5-7 years of post-graduate experience in IT, 3+ years as an
Oracle DBA. Data architecture, systems integration, database design,
application SQL and database tuning, space management, database
monitoring, and RMAN backup/recovery experience required. Experience
with UNIX systems necessary, Red Hat Linux a plus. Experience with
PostgreSQL not necessary, but a plus.
