Just to let you know that this problem disapeared. Tonight I tried starting
postmaster in debug mode. It no longer core dumped so I stopped it and
restarted it in regular mode. I am not able to use psql without a core dump.

I didn't do anything differently than yesterday. Just hope I don't need to
post again, at least not to report a problem.
