Hi Simon

You must start the postmaster with the option '-i', if  you don't, you
will get a socket error.

$ /usr/bin/postmaster -i -D /usr/share/postgresql/data
or
$ /usr/bin/pg_ctl start -D /usr/share/postgresql/data -o "-i"
