Hi,
Thanks for your help. I don't have Cygwin. Based on your input I searched directories of all directories in my path. I found that a GCC based compiler called WinAVR that I installed recently comes with some TCL DLLs(and a Cygwin exe file). Anyway, renaming the WinAVR directory fixed the pgsql installation problem.
cheers,
erik

The MSIHANDLE problem is a known issue, but it doesn't really matter. The problem is the crashing in CheckAvailableDLLs - you'll notice in the log it never returns from there.
The first thing I'd check is if you have Cygwin installed on your system. The installer tries to detect this, but it may fail at that. Cygwin is known to cause crashes with it's tcl and/or python DLLs.If this is not the case, look for any python, perl or tcl DLLs in either your system directories or in directories in your path. Try moving/renaming them and restarting the installer. If this also is not the case, look for non-standard openssl DLLs (libeay32.dll) in system dirs or path that may be causing a crash.//Magnus-----Ursprungligt meddelande-----

Ämne: [ADMIN] GetAvailableLocales aborting installationHi,I had PostgreSQL 8.0.0-beta5 on my Windows Xp home laptop. It installed and ran fine. After downloading v 8.0.2. I tried to run the upgrade.bat script, but it choked and told me to run the main msi file. I then assumed the upgrade wouldn't work and uninstalled the beta just in case. After running the postgresql-8.0.msi file the installation crashes. The attached logfile indicates a problem with GetAvailableLocales or MSIHANDLE. My computer has AVG Antivirus and ZA Firewall, but both are shutdown prior to installation.I read the Win-FAQ and searched the mailinglists. The FAQ says it might be necessary to uninstall my antivirus/firewall software, but I won't do that.Would appreciate hints to get around this, thanks.erik=== Verbose logging started: 05-05-2005 20:22:43 Build type: SHIP UNICODE 2.00.2600.1106 Calling process: C:\WINDOWS\System32\msiexec.exe ===
