Chapter 11. What’s New in PPEM 2.8

Release date: 2026-07-27

For upgrade instructions, refer to Chapter 73.

PPEM 2.8 introduces the following major upgrades and improvements:

  • Implemented the ability to configure quorum-based synchronous replication in a BiHA cluster. This functionality is supported both when creating a new BiHA cluster or converting from an existing instance.

For more information, refer to Section 41.1.2 and Section 41.1.4.

  • Added the ability to configure metrics and log collection parameters for pgpro-otel-collector in the web application, for both DBMS clusters and standalone instances. Previously, these parameters could be configured only by manually editing the pgpro-otel-collector configuration files on the server.

For more information, refer to Section 41.8 and Section 40.10.

  • Added the ability to view and edit parameters of clusters and their nodes in the web application. If needed, it is now possible to set different values for the same parameter on different nodes within a single operation.

For more information, refer to Section 60.1 and Section 60.2.

  • Added the ability to view and manage the user profile and user sessions.

For more information, refer to Section 39.2.

  • Added support of AQO to improve query performance.

For more information, refer to Chapter 70.

PPEM 2.8 also includes the following functional upgrades and improvements:

  • The manager and agent configuration files.

  • Housekeeping rules for the repository maintenance.

Added ability to select table columns with the timestamptz or bigint data type in the Timestamp column parameter when creating a housekeeping rule. If the bigint column is selected, the Timestamp data type parameter is now displayed. For this parameter, you can set either the unix or the unix_nano value. This parameter can also be set when adding a housekeeping rule condition.

For more information, refer to Section 58.1.

  • Cluster node management.

Optimized the deletion scenario for cluster nodes.

For more information, refer to Section 41.5.6 and Section 40.11.

  • Monitoring metrics.

Added the Database Usage metrics preset. It displays the state of the instance databases, filtered by a specific database.

  • External data sources.

Added the Collection interval parameter that allows specifying the collection interval for a metrics storage.

For more information, refer to Section 31.1.4.

  • User interface.

    • Improved the notification window in the web application toolbar, made user interface improvements to the table of indexes, and updated the color palette.

    • Added filters to the instance authentication page to simplify working with HBA configuration.
