2.5. Identifying User Groups and Usage Scenarios #

  1. Identify user groups, such as administrators, analysts, applications, and end users, that will work with Postgres Pro AXE and metadata tables.

  2. Identify usage scenarios for user groups.

  3. Identify the required response time and configure access to the OLAP data for usage scenarios.

Postgres Pro AXE provides the following ways of configuring access to the OLAP data:

    • Each user group has a separate pgpro_metastore catalog and storage.

    • User groups share a single pgpro_metastore catalog. Each user group has a separate storage with most of the OLAP data. The remaining data is located in the shared storage, where it can be accessed by other user groups.

    • User groups share a single pgpro_metastore catalog and storage.

You can either configure access to the OLAP data in one of these ways or in a custom way using pga_storage, pga_table, and pga_folder metadata tables.
