Hello,
I am personally working on a new column with a number of articles re:
PHP and PostgreSQL.
There are a lot of PostgreSQL myths in the PHP world: aka "PostgreSQL
is incredibly slow" or "hard to setup".
I do see MySQL gaining popularity among PHP developers despite the
licensing issues. True, PHP 5 has SQLite embedded (okay
not a real database engine, but to many small websites it might fit the
bill ) but the great majority of open source projects are offering the
PHP/MySQL
combo or nothing.
I looked for a php wiki and there is really little working with
PostgreSQL. Phpbb has full PostgreSQL support which is pretty good. I
wonder if we could do
something to change this.... on dotgeek.org we might organize a contest
for a new PHP/PostgreSQL application?!
Cheers
